Bandipur national park and kabini wildlife

 Bandipur  national park  and tiger reserve is Karnataka's gorgeous tourist spot measured as one of the best wild life sanctuaries in India,      

Bandipur National park is one of the most attractive and well maintained national parks on the Mysore Ooty highway in Karnataka .Bandipur is also home to a significant population of tigers. here is large    variety of animals such as tigers, leopards, elephants, sambars spotted deer's , Asiatic wild dogs amongst many others. over 230 species of birds have been spotted around the national park. To name a few such as open billed stork ,painted stork, egrets, kites, eagles   and the rare to spot vultures. Indian python, cobra, viper and the flying snake may also be sighted.

The exciting event of the Bandipur national park is the safari inside the forest in forest department vans and open gypsies .They do trips in the morning and evening. Mini buses safari is a also good option in the morning i suggest you take a safari by jeep . take along safari, example double safari which will be 4 hours. they will take you deep in side the jungle and visit all the water bodies in the forest this enhances the chances of your encounter with wild animals. you will encounter wild buffaloes, some rare birds like and peacock and deer. you will never realize how fast those 3 hours finish. Every minute you will be holding your breath and watching and listening which is an experience by itself. The chances of meeting wild animals are better during morning times. my experience was thrilling. first we encountered some wild buffaloes then saw deers and peacocks , which did not excite us some pugmarks which was an indication that the tiger was around that place. Also one of the deer was making a peculiar cry and we were told that it is giving warning to other deers about the danger.  

 

kabini wildlife safari

Kabini forest reserve is one of the best wildlife destination in  Karnataka .kabini is one of the country's richest biodiversity locals and tiger territories. kabini is the land of spectacular landscape and wildlife. Its covered with hills, waterfalls,valleys,and forests with many animals like tigers,elephants,monkeys, leopards and deers.kabini backwater forest safari is a popular experience the Karnataka forest department operates two types of safaris in kabini one is jeep safari and the other is boat safari in kabini river. the boat safari lasts for close to 90 minutes and guests may see elephants mud bathing on the shores, several birds such as cormorants cranes, darters along the river banks.kabini wild life sanctuary is spread over 56 acres and is an essential part of the Nagar hole national park including dense forests lakes steep valleys, and streams. kabini is fantastic wild life destination if you are looking for areal wild life experience this should be your first choice in south India. This is an all the year round destination  unlike  many national parks in north India which are closed during monsoon months. only time the parks get closed is due to wild fires in summer. always check with your hotel on park conditions, safari etc the best time to experience the park is between October to January when water level in backwater is high and boat safari is on. the jugle is green and lovely. summer months of april , may are great for tiger sightings. but there may not be boat safari. we strongly recommended you to go on weekdays for a quet and less hurried experience weekends see lot of crowd from Bangalore . unfortunately because of the lovely back waters of kabini reservoir , it has also become a luxury travel destination. even if you are not a wildlife enthusiast you can definitely come to kabini for a relaxation and rejuvenation.being wildlife enthusiasts ourselves, we would recommend you to go for atleast one jeep safari even if you are there for relaxation. who knows you may be lucky and sight a tiger.
